Phil Swift with Flex Tape would cut a Jeep in half.
Twice the fun.
Matt needs to cut a Jeep Gladiator in half stay tuned.
Every time I watch your stuff I learn something, Your one clever person, Umm can we have another Guess that part haha..
👍
Why not just weld the diamond shape OVER the weld in the web? Why cut out the diamond shape and then weld a single piece back in?
Can't wait to see the body work and finished product. Long dreamt of doing something similar with my old YJ before I got rid of it.
I thought it was just another boring video until your guest star on loan from Matt showed up at the end. 8-)
?? Who would that be?
Electrical issues, I recently cut the nose of a 93 ZJ and from the axle back off of a boat trailer. ZJ meet boat trailer. ZJ trailer, meet XJ, your new camping buddy. XJ pulling a ZJ gets tons of looks. And the ZJ is the perfect amount of room for sleeping, removed all the seats, dash, and steering wheel, put a sink in the front left corner where the dash was and 2 propane ' burners about where the drivers seat was. Perfect little camper for me and my lady.
Hey might want to look in to doing a double Sheer on the steering heim I have had them snap like that
Hi did the T-shirts come in I can’t figure out how you get where to buy them at
We have everything in except for xl and 2XL shirts and more should be done this week! Check out www.thefabrats.com
Do you guys think you could fab me some L-brackets ( flat) maybe 1/4" thick ? Not free, but I have no idea where to get them made!
You have not said why? Just to make the top fit?
Longer wheel base, so rollovers don’t happen as easily. 👍🏻
Looking good, now to find the next episode.
I wish I lived closer to you, I have a 84 f250 I need help with. Love your videos!
Q. Why Would You CUT A JEEP IN HALF? A. Because it was too big to fit in the rubbish skip in one piece.
@Fab Rats not even close
UK representing!😉
That's some good work right there. 👍🏼
Wow. Pumped to see how this goes. Just subscribed to keep updated.
Gotta admit I'm looking forward to seeing the finished build and seeing the Jeep on the trail. Always a good time watching you and the gang at your shop.
Love it! Great work in there. It's nice to watch these projects especially when you know what you're doing! Papa Dar's jeep is going to be a cool yj.
1 like = 1 prayer for each of Paul's dearly departed sawzall blades.
Idk why did the chicken cross the road ?
Me thinks you've been hanging out with Matt a little too long!!! 😂
Man I wish I had my YJ running rn. Don’t have the things necessary to get the ole girl back on the road 😔
Someone else may have mentioned it earlier but that elk rack in the loft appears to be in need of being displayed more prominently!
@Fab Rats Nice shop. Nice elk racks. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.
We’ve gotten a few offended viewers because of those elk racks.😜 Here’s a video that talks a little bit about them. m.uzworld.info/player/video/amnPiaqHg6q6lmM
Excellent work, you are really good at what you are doing, that climber is not a Jeep anymore, your creation deserves to have proper name for, because its may appear to be a Jeep but its not, it is something special and special things need a special name with special treatment.
That’s a good idea! Well have papa dar come up with a name!😉 thanks for your kind words!
Hey man awesome work. I wish I was close to your shop I would’ve get you to work on mine 97 Tacoma frame.
Because they're shite
its Dang close .. love that
👍👍
My dad cut nearly a foot off the step-side of a Dodge Ram and put it on a Power Wagon frame. It was awesome looking after he painted it white. Short & Stocky & BADA$$. Paul, you remind me of him in the fact that you could build anything you set your mind to. Papa Dar's Jeep is gonna be a bada$$ too. By the way,...Papa Dar is suppose to be taking it easy. Looks like he might be over-doing it since he didn't take a nap this time. I'm shaking my forefinger at you Papa Dar!! ;-)
Damn good work man
Probably don't need to run the sawzall at full speed all of the time. The blueing of the blade means it is getting way too hot.
Man that’s gonna look sweet! Well I have more of a mystery problem now I fixed my suspension replaced a bunch of parts but now in 4 wheel drive I have this clunking so I don’t know if it’s the driveshaft or the diff or transfer case or what but I can make it there in 2 wheel drive during some decent weather and my daughter and I are still looking forward to the possibility. Keep up the good videos can’t wait to see this beat done!
It's good seeing you wear your PPE. With the thoisamds of people watching, you just may save someone's eye. 👍
you will have to do video on the jeep when your done will it go straigth down the road or will it be dog tracking incase you never seen it or herd of it you ever see a dog that walking down the street his butt is walking off to the side
Good job boys! I'm going to do the same thing to my 98 Wrangler! Thanks for sharing by the way
what the heck...????? You really cut off the Jeep in Half!!!!
Love the build keep em coming!!!!
Very cool. Makes me want to do some welding again. But I can't since I got a pacemaker 12 months ago.
Tie rod looked awful loose/sloppy !
If you take super light cuts with a sharp tool you can slim down washers on a faceplate on the lathe. Super glue it on there and go to town. Small cuts to avoid a lot of heat. OR just make a new washer from scratch on the lathe.
For what ever reason a sawzall heading through a jeep body makes me all wharm an fhuzzy. I just used a sawzall to cut a 1” 316 stainless rod bc I’m a moron. Can’t feel my left hand.
Msrong steering!
Did you check for square axle ? I know it just an off road Jeep.
Great channel. Love the fab work as well as the video production.
i put on a duel steering stabilizer today! I'm as talented as Paul's pinky finger lol
I couldn't get a good look, but the tillers for the tie-rod on each side look like they go straight back, i.e. the pivot of the tie-rod is directly behind the ball-joint pivot point. I thought, that in the straight-ahead position, you want the tie-rod pivots outboard (because the tie rod is behind the ball joints) of the ball joint, so there is some Ackerman effect during a turn. Paul knows more about this chit than I ever will, so I'm sure it is done right. What am I missing?
**WHAT A WONDERFUL FAB/RAT!!!**
This is an AWESOME project! Pappa Dar going to be cruising around in the baddest jeep on the planet after the surgery to it has been finished!
before the appearance of the lathe, what would did you do???
What did Dar do to his arm?
Paul another great video keep em coming Paul
Awesome job. Enjoy watching your videos. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I just bought 2004 lj and own a 1962 cj6 oh one more the lj has a grtops 1/2 cab love the 104 inch had to watch just to see
"Why would you cut a Jeep in half?" Answer why not? I felt like it! !! My question is: North South ? or East West?? That said. I'm impressed at your skills "Boiler Maker" (Welder) Fitting and turning. (Lathe and shaper stuff) And Auto Genius (Frikkin' auto trans rebuilds! From memory) AWESOME
Lol glad the smell of gas didnt slow you down in cutting Papa Dar's Jeep in half
Paul knows hip hop too? I figured him more a “chicken wing chicken wing” kinda guy.
Hey Paul, for future reference when you need to remove sound deadening from a chassis. Use dry ice. You just crush it up and spread it over the sound muffling and use a folded up packing blanket to insulate it and direct the heat up and out of the work piece. Then you just chisel it up, EXACTLY LIKE peanut brittle
I suggest getting a microphone thats not just on the camera! love the videos
Hey Paul I'm hoping that I could drive my 2000 Tacoma up to you from Arizona with a Dana 44 in the bed and drive it home with a Dana 44 under it. Would you be up for that?
Awesome job.
"A sawzall will cut anything but it won't cut anything very well." -Tumbleweed. You can quote me if you like. -:))
Man that’s quite a project!!! Looking good 👍🇺🇸
SURFACE GRINDER Is the term you were looking for.
Impressive. Not afraid to do anything. That would scare me to do something like that and you just take it like a grain of salt.
One of the best channels on UZworld. You guys better not turn into cheesy influencers
We might do cheesy commercial once in a while to pay for a few parts.😜 but we’re as real they get! Paul couldn’t act if he tried.😂
As someone who does welding and fab work professionally, I still cant believe you let people just hang out and watch, that would drive me crazy. I might "accidentally" send some sparks that way. Like i'm sure he's an alright guy, but in half these shots the jeep's owner is practically looking over your shoulder! that doesn't bother you even just a little bit?
Whisky. tango foxtrot? Remind me not to bring my Taco in LOLOLOL
👍👍
didnt Matt patent that cliche', ouch that's hot?? LOL... @Paul, it's amazing how much work gets done, when Matt's not around to "assist" you... j/k...lol... great video Paul, cant wait to see more of Papa Dar's project come together... thank you... :)
I'd like to know what blades he uses on that recip...took me half an hour to cut my lower control arm bolts.
thought i was watching matt when you carried the nut over to the table.its hot oww its realy hoy lol
Are you worried about bump steer or also known as death wobble?
"Did I cut a gas line?" Let me finish with this cutting wheel. 😆
Can't wait to see the end result!
I love the positive can do attitude, finding a solution to every problem thrown at you and enjoying it. Always a great watch !
I thought for sure someone was going to get hurt during this ordeal haha
Perfect 👍👍
Torch blades should be called candles. Feel your struggle.
Fab Rats, check out Tools in Action's newest video! I think you could use some of what they got.
Camera lens seems to make the shock rods look bent !
You are an artist and a craftsman.
👍
to turn a cj5 into a cj7?
Enjoy the build series. Keepem up.
Looks good. But why did you cut it in half? I must have missed the reasoning.
Longer wheel base so he doesn’t tip over as easily. 👍🏻
You sure made that look easy! I am so impressed with all your skills. Nice to have a team support you.
I did not catch why you are lengthening the jeep?
@Fab Rats I thought much. My son had a cj5 and flipped it in Provo canyon.
Longer wheel base makes it less likely to tip over. 👍🏻
What a project!
To attach a pickup bed to it ? :D
Great job. You sure make it look easy, but the many hours of actual work can’t hardly be displayed with a few snippets of video footage. Can’t wait to see the next segment.
Why cut a jeep in half? So it fits in the skip better!
Well I have seen everything now. What a job. I'm glad it's family as the bill would be very high. I can't wait to see the next upload on this project.
Why wouldn't you cut a Jeep in half ? Jeep parts are like Doritos, you can always make more.
What was the reason behind removing the inner parts and re welding them. "box in" did you use a different gauge material?
We bent the new piece of frame so it wasn’t boxed, so we boxed the inside.👍🏻
How do you get insurance on something like this? I mean who checks the work is up to an acceptable standard and is not going to kill someone coming the other way if something breaks? If you are in an accident and the modifications are to blame, what happens?
@Fab Rats ok, it’s just where I live we wouldn’t be allowed to put something like that on public roads or parks at all unless it was fully engineered. We do have “pre engineered” style kits for upgrades etc, but nothing like cutting a vehicle in half 😀.
This isn’t really for road use. It’s a rock crawler.👍🏻
ahhh i wanna see more.
I tell you what I would love to have someone like you as a fabricator and and man that knows his shit like you to work on my stuff to bad your not closer good work on everything you do bud
Heh, should be nice, Though i thought you were building the front end to finish it up to get it Out of the shop.. Cutting it in in 1/2 is Completely opposite of finishing the work.. LOL
