Best Epoxy Putty Brand? Let’s find out! Brands tested: Oatey, JB Weld, Hercules, POR 15, EP-400, Gorilla, QuickSteel, Loctite, KBS NuMetal, Pratley, A+B, and PC-7. Epoxy putty brands were tapped and threaded, then tested for strength. Brands also used to repair pipes with holes, then pressure tested. Epoxies tested for compressive strength. Finally, some of the epoxies used to repair chain and also used to repair a damaged cylinder head.

So I too some clamp and couple pieces of mdf and clamp forced pc7 through the wood to ensure to the best of my ability there were no cavities. • I agree that the JB Weld seems to be the best bang-for-the-buck solution. I was recently disappointed in it though, when I tried to repair the adjustment bracket plate on the bottom of an pneumatic office chair (seen typically in front of computer stations). The chair was 'Made in China', so not too surprised that the weld holding the cylinder into which the pneumatic lift sits gave way. I first tried just applying JB weld to & around the weld part. Allowed it 24 hrs. to cure. Looked good, but at the first lateral force, it cracked. I then repeated the repair, using some nylon strapping in addition to the JB Weld "steel reinforced epoxy" (not the putty product). It held up for a couple days, but wound up fracturing. I wound up sending for a replacement plate. Got the plate, but the holes which allow attachment to the bottom of the chair were NOT the same as on the original plate, so I had to elongate a couple of the holes in order to make it fit. I will have to try the JB Weld Putty product on my Neuton battery/electric lawn mower, now 12 yrs old, which suffered a crack in the upper plastic handle. I've been using Gorilla (black) tape to hold it together for the past 3 years, but a better solution will be needed for when grass starts growing again here in N.E. Ohio. Cheers.

  • By any chance is there a webpage or something where all of the stats from these videos are uploaded. The work you do on this channel is incredible and clearly extremely time consuming, so I realize it's incredibly unrealistic to ask you to do even more. But by the end of the video I can't remember all of the data you put up after the tests, which makes it a little harder to look at your recommendations and see how they line up with my needs. Again, please don't feel any obligation to go out of your way for hours of extra work, but some kind of data sheet linked in the description would be awesome. Thanks for everything you are already doing! It's incredibly helpful and entertaining.

  • I came into this expecting JB Weld to come out on top, and while I wasn't disappointed, definitely shows there are better solutions depending on the application at hand. Very impressed with KBS pull/shear strength and PC-7 compressive strength. I've used JB Weld for years for all kinds of 'on-the-spot' repairs, amazing what you can do with that stuff to get out of a pinch. Literally glued a piece of block (mallet assisted) back in once, bit more to that than just gluing it back in, but we managed to drive back about 450km to tarmac and a tow on 5 cylinders with a piston and rod out, some other jiggery with pushrods and injectors...

Hercules was always one of my favorites and glad to see that it held up so well but True Value quit carrying it here and I went to both Oakly and JB Weld and it looks like JB Weld is the best overall.
