Weird History presents Timeline and the year 1988. In 1988, we would see one of the largest oil spills ever with the Exxon Valdez, the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson, take one an undefeated opponent in one of the biggest boxing matches of the century and the release of Eddie Murphy's iconic "Coming to America." Check out Timeline 1988 for the news, sports, culture, and all that was weird. Weird History's Timeline: The 80s.

  • @12:45, the innocent people always die and the drunk always lives in those situations. It's extremely sad, did they at least send him to prison for life? He killed 24 children and 3 adults, that's a Mass Murder.

  • 1988. I have a right to mate! Maybe not in the sight of all of God and man. Sheesh. Quit tightening your belts. Loosen up. Get some excitement in your world! Try to find the thrill! Ignore the smells! The squishy sound? Just let it melt into your mind! Like the pounding of the thighs. The mound of hair and flesh? Um. That's mine... The rash? I think it's fine. A little dash of ointment. Pay no mind. Don't get all Freud on me. Just point the camera. And... 🎬 Action!

He did not want to be traded, and when he found out, he made sure LA would do better than a cash deal for one player, and convinced LA to get more players as a trade. • October 29, 1988, during a terrible snowstorm and blizzard, a man and a woman wasn;t sure whether they'd make it to the hospital in time, but they ended up delivering a healthy baby boy, ME!! :) H.W Bush was electedin the US giving the GOP 4 more years in the Whitehouse. Brian Mulroney was elected for 4 more years in Canada but with a reduced majority. The triple 8 revolution blew up in Burma ending the Socialist regime but continuing the militry dictatorship. The Iran-Iraq War ended in a stalemate but over a million lives are lost. Al Qeada is formed by Osama bin Laden. The CPSU relinquishes their monopoly on power. Pan Am flight 103 in blown up over Lockerbie SCotland by Libyan terrorists. 1988 was an eventful year but just wait until the rollercoaster that it is 1989 begins.

  • I was 6 in '88, but can remember getting up early on Saturday morning watching cartoons. When Roger Rabbit came out I wanted to see it. My mom told me it was mature for me to watch. Even looking back President Reagan picture on the wall in my school office, and watching Reagan on 60 minutes with my grandparents. I told my grandmother who's 97, that I can remember that, she said that was years ago, and since I'm near 40, I'm just getting old 🤦‍♂️😄

  • 12:22 People will sell weapons to Iran and give the proceeds to terrorists in Latin America and be like, "Can't help being an Aquarius!" 13:39 I think you should make a video about that, because the story is so much more interesting than what was mentioned here. Suzuki sued Consumer Reports for libel _and won_ because it turned out that CR had manipulated the results to force it to tip over for a really bizarre reason that I can't remember.

    • Bullshit. No American ever had anything to do with Al Qaeda. All credible historians, journalists, former US govt officials, and Al Qaeda themselves have denied this. You would have to be totally ignorant of AQ to think that they would ever cooperate with the CIA which they always despised. If anyone in AQ or the all-arab jihadist group that preceded it prior to 1988 (the Maktab Al Khadimat) ever came within 20 feet of an American agent, they'd kill him immediately. At no time did the CIA ever consider giving weapons, training, or money to AQ or the MAK, because they correctly feared that this could be used against Israel. In fact a requirement by congress of support for Afghan resistance was that none of it ever get to Arabs, because of the fear of endangering Israel. Plus there was no benefit to either the US or AQ for either to work with the other. For the CIA, the afghans they selected to back were very good at fighting the Soviets. But the Arabs were terrible, they didn't know afghanistan and got lost, couldn't fight, and were mostly rich boy pussies who stayed out of major combat with the Russians. For the MAK, they had all the money they needed from Saudi Arabia. Thanks to Bin Laden's wealthy contacts, Arab jihadis could buy plenty of weapons in Pakistan, for the MAK's performative show of jihad. The reason that Bin Laden and Zawahiri started AQ in 1988 (solely with Arab donor money) was because they were fed up with the MAK not being serious enough about killing infidels. Saying that Osama was a CIA asset is as silly as saying Hitler was an Israeli agent. www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/08/15/bergen.answers/index.html
