Blue Origin successfully completed its 14th mission to space and back for the New Shepard program on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
Mission NS-14 featured a crew capsule outfitted with astronaut experience upgrades for upcoming flights with astronauts onboard.
This flight continued to prove the robustness and stability of the New Shepard system and the BE-3PM liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen engine. Also onboard today were more than 50,000 postcards from Blue Origin’s nonprofit Club for the Future.
All mission crew supporting this launch exercised strict social distancing and safety measures to mitigate COVID-19 risks to personnel, customers, and surrounding communities. Learn more about this mission on

    • @Earth It could be hard for some people to understand, but so easy for them to be rude and condescending. Before hitting the ground, the retro thrusters were expected to fire and further slow down smoothly. The thruster should also have blow the dust flying before the impact of the payload did. Did your "genius" eyes observe any of that?

  • *If the 38% Gravity is sufficient, then we could convert Mercury or Mars into a Spaceship to other Stars, because it weighs much less than Venus.* *If we erect a Parasol in front of Venus, after Centuries the Carbon dioxide, Nitrogen and Sulfuric acid will sink in the Craters due to the Coldness of Space.* *We can then enter the Planet like the Earth's moon and convert it into a Spaceship to other Stars, because there we now have almost the same Force of Gravity as on Earth.* *Humanity could then live all over Venus under 5m Roofs in large indoor Cities.* *However, Space stations 50 km in the upper Atmosphere are not possible, because there are high Wind speeds of 100 Meters per Second.* *In addition, constant Supply of lifting Gases, no Depletion of Resources, corrosive Effects from Sulfuric acid, Accidents and Catastrophes, cosmic Space radiation.*

  • why did that look so fake?

    Shawn/IOShawn/IOOy oldin
    • @Shawn/IO i'm not an expert whatsoever, but i feel like the reason it looks really clean is the mass and size of the vehicle. new shepard is about 18m tall, while falcon 9 is a whopping 70m, so less mass means it's easier to push into orbit (though new shepard does have a far weaker engine than a falcon). i'm sure someone more qualified can get deeper into the physics of it, but it's like comparing a cessna plane to your average commercial boeing

      VenadoreVenadore29 kun oldin
    • I will say, that looked extremely clean and very efficient, less things banging around that could go wrong, I still dont like starships booster system, this looks like a real sci fi movie by how they used to land spaceships, I am a lil curious about blue origin now

  • Also... Why does this not get mentioned??? As the capsule is descending, she talks about chutes slowing it to about 10 mph. Then the retro fires, slowing to a gentle 1 mph. She says it's like landing on a pillow. Problem is...(Problems are?). The chutes never slow it below 15 mph. It averages 17-18, and at one point seems to pick up speed, (up to 20 mph). The retro never fires, and it kicks up a gigantic mushroom cloud when it instantly goes from 17 to ZERO mph. OUCH! I'm betting that, (the dumbly named Mannequin Sky...something or other), would be in a pretty sad shape if he was human. Funny, neither of the terrible commentators failed to mention any of that.

    thearthoundthearthoundOy oldin
  • Ok, after the booster landing, everything she said about the capsule was out of phase with what was happening on vid. Almost like she wasn't seeing it as it happened. Like talking about the chutes, and slowing down, well after it had happened. Makes me wonder if the audio was edited.

  • Ok -the rocket and capsule that are ‘in space-0 gravity’ go from several hundred miles per hour to instantly reversing and descending back down? You’d think you’d need a extremely powerful blast to instantly not only stop the rocket and capsule but reverse them .....instantly? Doesn’t seem right to me and that capsule crashed into the ground-no boosters for a soft landing seen.
