Once in a blue moon mostly Weddings and Funerals, we would see other. I vividly recall the conversation we all had at Breakfast when the topic of Politics came up in 2008. One of my cousins proudly announced that she is a Socialist. Another cousin announced she works in an Abortion clinic. So weird to see Koreans embracing Socialism.

  • Thank you! Thanks for your interview with Patrick. You gave us the view of socialism/communism from your terrible childhood. I pray (something I can, for now, still do here) that many will see what you lived through, that even words like freedom, responsibility, choice and so many I can't remember were not even words you knew because of growing up in NK. Having to be afraid of what you could even whisper - I can't imagine knowing that anything you say can kill everyone in your own family. That you escaped so you could find frozen potatoes or a bucket of bread - the sad story of people who manage to escape and still live. Lessons on socialism. Thank you.

  • By definition North Korea is NOT a socialist country. It's kind of irritating that people think it is and they just assume it's true without educating themselves at all (ironically this kind of mentality is what tyrannical governments depend on), it's even more irritating to see people peddle that idea. They probably don't read many books about socialism in North Korea, and the regime wouldn't want them to because if people did they would be like "Wait, something isn't right". The Soviet Union and china were not either, nor are they today. I know that the biggest Capitalists in the world loved it when these countries called themselves Socialist though, because real Socialism as an idea would be Capitalisms worst nightmare. They loved it though because they could point to places like North Korea and China and say "SEE?! Look at what Socialism gets you!". If you think that Communism and Socialism are the same thing you need to pick up a book. I don't care that she lived there. Yes North Korea is arguably the worst country in the world and I respect what she went through, but she doesn't know what she's talking about when she talks about socialism, and just because North Korea claims to be socialist it doesn't mean that they are and she should know better than anyone that you can't believe everything that the North Korean regime says

  • I have my own, possibly radical theory for why socialism is popular with younger people. It is not for altruistic reasons as they would have you believe. It is for selfish reasons and fed by fear. The majority of the population has changed from being rural to urban in the last few decades. In my early days and in my parents day, rural living required you to be independent, self-sufficient, self-reliant, resourceful, and innovative. In city life, help is always nearby-people become more dependent on others in large cities. Socialists need this comfort and have a fear that they could lose it-they want it guaranteed-they want the government to provide it. A second reason, is that the post war prosperity caused my generation and the previous to spoil their children. So when the children become adults, they are unsure of their ability to care for themselves. Having left or lost their parents, to allay their fears of inadequacy, they want the government to be their parents.

Capitalism has brought more people out of poverty then any other system of government in human history and that is why people from all over the world come to America only the brainwash hate it! Socialists can say Socialism works but please tell me where it has worked for the benefit of the people? They can't because it doesn't work.

  • “[T]he useful idiots, the leftists who are idealistically believing in the beauty of the Soviet socialist or Communist or whatever system, when they get disillusioned, they become the worst enemies. That’s why my KGB instructors specifically made the point: never bother with leftists. Forget about these political prostitutes. Aim higher. [...] They serve a purpose only at the stage of destabilization of a nation. For example, your leftists in the United States: all these professors and all these beautiful civil rights defenders. They are instrumental in the process of the subversion only to destabilize a nation. When their job is completed, they are not needed any more. They know too much. Some of them, when they get disillusioned, when they see that Marxist-Leninists come to power-obviously they get offended-they think that they will come to power. That will never happen, of course. They will be lined up against the wall and shot.” ― Yuri Bezmenov

  • Today is Jan 1st. Just watched the last interview where she first exposes the truth. TODAY! The day I watched all ballots cast in America to bring in this very regime... the beginning... all the empty promises of Socialism... always communism is the end and the true result. Leaders drunk with the very imagining of owning other human beings. The Green deal(s) planted around our earth right now, The Great Reset, Agenda 21 (from where all this spews). If we don't recognize AND ACT as one body, one people we will fall so rapidly into horrors, we, as Americans won't be able to grasp what is happening. Many people are awake. Reports are spit out hourly now. Most yell their message of "wake up!!" "Do something" BUT the people wide awake that would do something, for the most part just don't know what to do... or have the resources needed... not knowing how to organize people, solicit donations, etc, etc. NEVER have I heard even one suggestion, any attempt to organize, help the millions of viewers (if like-minded influencers collectively united, talked, came together, devised a plan, maintained even a database of physical contacts if (when) the digital world is turned against us). Just yelling "wake up" and telling us how much worse it's gotten on a daily basis, after a while what's the point if no one goes beyond the info stage. Asking individuals to stand up is not only foolish, but dangerous. Individuals who stand up alone or in small numbers will only succeed in being quickly squashed, thrown in jail. It's only when we unite in huge numbers can we rise effectively. These people at the top of this thing are driven by power. They have all the money they could ever want, they want power, and they'll do anything to get it. They've planned for 70 years. We haven't even begun and our country just saw the beginning of the end. The election was so fraudulent only a fool couldn't know that; yet, it's that corrupt Socialist with a party that's already given our country away to the globalists who will unethically and immorally stand at the podium in 19 days and slobber his rhetoric and lies into a microphone. We aren't prepared people. We couldn't even stop the steal of an election. We're expected to tolerate the brainwashed Socialist kids run through our streets burning down our cities. Oh yeah, and Mike Pence is a pu*^sy!! He could have prevented this, but was too politically self concerned. I'd like to know how he feels in a few years knowing he was a part of allowing it to happen. He betrayed Trump, he betrayed us. This is the end of America. I suggest learn some Mandarin and hope you like rotten potatoes. Crist doesn't return until after he's opened the 6th seal... possibly at the last trump (just like it says). It's up to us to survive or not.

  • Million Dollar Potential in Ruvol I have invented a Board Game [still unpublished and not yet out in the market] that is guaranteed to be far more challenging and exciting than CHESS. I called it “RUVOL.” Over time, Ruvol will surpass chess as the “Number One Board Game in the World.” Why am I so sure about this? Because I am an avid chess player myself. The weakness of chess is it always starts in fixed positions that the opening moves become “memorizable.” In fact, not a few have so mastered the moves that they can play against their opponents “blindfolded.” It is for this very reason that the great Bobby Fischer introduced his so-called “Fischer Random Chess,” where the starting position of the pieces is “randomized” to make the memorization of openings impracticable. Fortunately, it is also for this reason that I invented Ruvol where “every game” has been calculated to be a challenging one to play. HOW IS RUVOL PLAYED? Ruvol is played somewhat like chess. It is played by two players. It uses a board that is rectangular in shape but contains more number of squares than chess. It has equal number of pieces on each side of the board, where each type of pieces moves in distinct ways. However, if the way to win chess is to checkmate the opponent’s king, the way to win Ruvol is to be able to cross a designated line. But there’s one big advantage Ruvol has over chess: The Ruvol pieces don’t have a fixed position at the start of the game. It is the players themselves who dictate the starting position, depending on the strategies they have planned before the game starts, making it impossible for any clever player to memorize the opening moves. A MILLION DOLLAR POTENTIAL IN RUVOL! The people who play chess will be the same people who will play Ruvol. In my Google search, I learned there are around 800 million chess players in the world. These 800 million players comprise the “Total Potential Buyers” of Ruvol across the globe. At an average profit of just US$3 per set, the “Global Income Potential” of Ruvol then is US$2.4 billion. Assuming only 1% of it will buy each year, the annual global potential sale of Ruvol is US$24M. I AM LOOKING FOR AN INVESTOR! For the reason that I don’t have the resources to publish Ruvol on a global scale, you might be interested to have the exclusive right to manufacture and market Ruvol globally under a “licensing agreement.” Or better yet, just “BUY MY COPYRIGHT” and Ruvol is entirely yours. Email me at: rodolfovitangcol@gmail.com. Thanks and God bless! RODOLFO MARTIN VITANGCOL The Ruvol Inventor

  • This kind of rhetoric is what is killing the United States. You intentionally make it seem like there are only 2 choices: free market capitalism where everyone needs to fend for themselves, or socialism which means the government controls everything. America has missed a century of political development in Europe, where capitalism is mixed with democracy and a social conscience. All we hear in stories like this is examples of Venezuela or North Korea, never any good stories about the successful social democracies of Europe, yet these countries top the lists of best countries to grow up in, NOT the USA. We do not consider the USA to be the land of the free at all. How can it be, when citizenship does not automatically give you the right to vote? How can it be, when so many people need to work three jobs to get by? How can it be, when you come out of school with a debt as high as a mortgage? How can it be when aid organizations that were meant to service third world countries now need to help people in the USA, because they cannot afford medical care or buy food? The real danger is not in socialism, but in the false propaganda that is being spread about left wing ideas automatically leading to situations like in North Korea.

The fact that you can go to elementary school and high school on the taxpayer dime isn't any different than going to college on the taxpayer dime. originally kids went to school until grade 8 then grade 12. It's all because the economy required more intellectually demanding jobs. Now we require 2 more grades to keep up with the western world. it really is that simple and people keep fear mongering over it. Also there is medicaid. All considered government programs. That socialism. Should we get rid of that? NO.

  • You come from North Korea, yet I highly doubt you or lots of Americans know the true definition of socialism. With the way this country is structured with its laws and constitution. Unless we don’t get Trump out of office Bc he’s looking for ways to stay in power, That’s when you can start comparing the US with North Korea, where Kim Jung Un stays in power whether he’s voted in or not. Then we can start mentioning socialism. It’s baffling to me that people are fighting ideas such as free healthcare and education. It works in Canada, UK and such. Health is a basic human need and I would hate for my neighbors to die Bc he can’t afford healthcare. No one is telling anyone to be lazy at home Bc the government will help. Then again there are lazy people everywhere in the world. All people like Bernie sanders want is for the working class, the ones who are actually contributing more the wealth of the Country to be treated fairly and paid more. I’ve lost respect for you. If it wasn’t for a slight ounce of socialism, you wouldn’t even be in this country considering Americans are not allowed in North Korea.

  • I can't compare the "socialism" we have in Sweden and the communism that is in NK. I don't think socialists wants it to be like stalins socialism or the one in NK. I don't like pure capitalism either. I think they want something in between or combine socialistic values with capitalistic. That is kind of the system I was born and grown up with, and it has always worked well. While in pure capitalistic countries the gap between the poor and rich are HUGE! At least that is my personal opinion, but I am talking of experience as well.

    MaryMaryOy oldin
  • Socialism clearly has flaws and it's really important that the situation in NK is being talked about. I do think it's important to also acknowledge the issues of capitalism and not entirely praise the system, because that's unfortunately not accurate. While the standard of living is higher in comparison for everyone, in countries like the US a lot of people don't have access to the education and healthcare they need, not because it's not available, but because of the costs which lead people to become indebted for life, in turn stopping them from getting themselves out of their socioeconomic situation. On the other side there are people who are tremendously wealthy and people do question that. Could there be a middle ground? Social democracy for example?

  • The prevalence of Stockholm syndrome in the US makes our living conditions not much better than NK. It is the similarities between our upbringings that give the US such a bad reputation. Never would I be able to understand how being in a "free country" simply gives people in the modern day just enough slack to perpetuate the same cycle that has caused societies to collapse many times before. For someone to be preoccupied with the buzz words of their political party is highly rudimentary at this point.

Well the science shows the virus denatures on surfaces after 12hrs so those imports don't have any live virus on them. • #1 - The argument that socialism is incompatible with human nature is weak are irrelevant. Human welfare and human nature are not one and the same thing. If human nature is fundamentally greedy and self destructive then we should construct social systems which curb these harmful tendencies. Conversely, if human nature is cooperative and constructive then we should construct sociopolitical systems which encourage, reinforce, and exacerbate these helpful tendencies. Human welfare is the consideration at hand. #2 - Business magnate outliers privatize and profit from civilizations innovations. Steve Jobs did not create any of the apple products his company developed and Bill Gates neither created the computer language nor wrote the program of any Microsoft software application. #3 - She read the Communist manifesto but did not read (presumably) God and the State. The Godfather of libertarian socialism Mikhal Bakunin predicted some 60 plus years in advance that Marxist regimes would become one party dictatorships. Many socialist agree that authoritarian left governments with absolute power concentrated in the state is a bad idea. #4 - Libertarian Socialism encourages diversity of thought and opinion. #5 - From each according to their ability to each according to their WORK. A less unknown but prevalent socialist ideology in anarcho-collectivist literature. Many Socialist contend that communist dictatorships are not socialist at all. Do the workers own or control any aspect of production? To me it does not make a difference. If its Socialism then fine. We need to differentiate between authoritarian socialism and libertarian socialism. Capitalism and authoritarian socialism are totalitarian societies from a libertarian socialist perspective.

I think it needs to be a little bit of both capitalism and socialism. especially pertaining to the socioeconomic future. ai's quantium computing. also because of dead weight loss and out dated financial systems. I'm a fan of small business. the problem with capitalism is the barrier to entry. we are suposed to be a rich country yet there is poverty crime homlessness. ect. so to that end I'm ok with socialism to raise people out of poverty. housing (saftey) food education and medical care. to lift people up so they can share in capitalism. I don't like to see people profit from human misery. or people bogged down with debt over taxation or debt peonage. that's the problem in this country it's being poorly managed for the benefit of a few. basically ethics and capitalism with a safety net. health care should be non profit. what are they vampires sucking the weak dry to be in the top 1 percent? criminals are a major factor for corruption of any system. transparency in health care for example.

I've never needed the services of public safety officers nor the fire department. Get rid of them. General hospitals and public clinics? I've my own healthcare provider, so I'm good. Why should I pay for things that only other people are going to use, like public libraries? Education, healthcare, recreational facilities, public safety, national defense, social security, etc. should all be privatized. People should only pay for such things on an as-needed basis. We should all just take care of ourselves, right? If this is the America you want then may the richest person win! I could have a lot more money in the bank if my taxes didn't go to all these aforementioned "socialist programs," but I want to contribute to them because it's for the greater good. Socialism and communism aren't synonymous with each other. Just ask any political science professor. Also you should point out President Nixon went to China in 1972 and exposed them to capitalism and it changed everything also when the Soviet Union their leadership came to the United States and was exposed to capitalism it changed everything that's what caused the wall the fall in Russia! Capitalism has brought down oppression everywhere in the world! India hasn't got out of it because it's not capitalistic because it has cast systems and people get suppressed you can only have so much in the cast it destroys upward mobility by destroying motivation! secondly if you do research the poor in the United States have more than they ever had before with televisions washers and dryers cell phones refrigerators freezers all kinds of modern conveniences even at the poorest of levels! Then you just have to examine anyone who came from a communist or socialist country the the Polish I knew that were from these communist times were thieves yeah they tend to be thieves just like the Russians were thieves and the Chinese were thieves you have this oppression but in Japan they had a cast system as well it wasn't formal but they did it was kind of formal and it did do suppression and the Yakuza had nowhere to rise because of the tattoos but now we have tattoo removals but again I don't promote oppression because of that they choose to do it to themselves so they can rise and overcome but again they put challenges in front of themselves so they have to show people that they're better than the tattoos the history of what it means related to bad people look at biker gangs and all criminal organizations around the world the Russian mafia you name it MS-13 the tattoos show how horrible of a human being you are everywhere tattoos mean horrendous things except for the Samoan write a passage band but that isn't a body tattoo that's a right of patience band it's a single tattoo that goes around the bicep. I'm not saying that you can have more tattoos I'm saying you need to recognize that people have been abused and murdered and raped and everything else by people with tattoos tattoos have been deleting edge of evil so if they want to change it then they need to change it because the triads get tatted up the Yakuza get tatted up and tattoos meant that you were filth that you were scum that I needed to be afraid of you I needed to be afraid of you because the tattoo say you're evil! That's why the Bible says that tattoos are a desecration of the human body if you want to change that everybody wearing tattoos must repent and change they must be the best of the best they have a lot of negative history to wipe out!

  • I think you are making flawed base assumptions: in the US there is no equality of opportunities. I believe there would be far fewer people supporting socialism if we could have a capitalistic society with true equality of opportunities. However it is not just that. In a competitive market you have the problem that people are *forced* to be interested in benefitting themselves by any means they have in hand. And it is not that a problem of people being egotistical when bribery happens or the exploitation of developing countries, it's the natural behavior of the *system*, the same as it is a natural behavior of the system to have innovation. I heard somebody once call capitalism an artificial intelligence and I think this is very accurate. You have to view it like a program or organism, something that acts independently of the people it consists of. I guess this is the same problem that drives attempts at socialism to become authoritarian hellscapes - because if somebody is in the position to become more powerful why should they not do it? But that doesn't necessarily mean that you could never get a socialist society whose starting position doesn't enable one person to get huge amounts of power and influence. Imagine a state shifts it's policies while it is subject to a functional system of checks and balances, for instance.

  • Socialisim is pretty much dead. I mean what is it? well the classic definition is state ownership of the means of production, and you get that in North Korea,China and possibly Cuba.If anyone on here starts to equate social democracy with the latter then perhaps you should be reminded that countries like Canada Finland and Norway do not have concentration camps and have seriously high standards of living for almost all its citizens. And no Bernie Sanders is not a socialist,he is a social democrat, and people who are Social democrats are just as opposed to dictatorships as centre right government, and why?because they are centre left and not far left.Stalin was far left,Mao was far left,Pol Pot was far left,Lennin and Trotsky were both far left,a country mile away from what social democracy is all about. So if you are going to call the liberal democracies far left or extreme then you should immerse yourself in some reading on things like the Russian revolution, the cultural revolution in China and the Cambodian genocide 1975 to circa 1980.If you do happen to read about any of those dark periods of history you will be one step closer to understanding what socialism is and what is is not, namely social democracy or democratic socialism, another name which is often used but hardly correct as the true definition of socialism is something else entirely and one which I pointed out earlier. This girl grew up in a nightmare world of socialism, but not social democracy.People in the Scandanavian countries have more freedom than most other democratic countries,so dont get confused.

  • Ummmm we have a ton of socialist policies in our country already: Policemen, Firefighters, Social Security, unemployment benefits, welfare benefits and more. Of course we do NOT want the USA to become a 100% socialist society... but pure capitalism will not work either. She is conflating socialism with dictatorships. She's been here for 5 years and thinks she can solve our problems ... She needs to solve her own country's problems first. If it weren't for liberal folk (left wing) she would've been stopped at the border ... Instead she comes here and gets all sorts of benefits that she has NEVER worked for.

  • People conflate Bernie Sanders movement with socialism / communism... when thats not what it was at all. I live in UK. And I've never been worried about not having money for healthcare... its just never been a thing. Health care is state controlled but I'm still free to choose my doctors and privates services if I can afford to. Its not stealing from the rich to ensure that there are checks and balances in place for the super rich and powerful by ways innovative gov enforced taxation and governing standards. Otherwise we're just returning to the days of controlling monarcs, except the mornarcs are replaced by corporations.

  • So sorry Yeonmi, beware of trading one brainwashing regime for another. You lived under a dictatorship, a communist dictatorship where the dictator seems to live as a capitalist. Do not be deceived into thinking all people in western society have equal opportunity they do not. There have been many lives sacrificed in westernised society too. Look back into US and UK history. Feudal systems and hierarchy systems. This is what scripture says " A worker deserves their pay", also " the gift of God is eternal life". Social conscience is important beyond political regimes of any nation. Capitalism applauds the rich man who says he earned his wealth when in fact his workers earned it for him. God says Love one another because love does no harm and if we disobey God in this he will pay us the wages of sin - death. No-one is exempt not dictators nor Kings, nor Presidents nor the destitute. There is one accounting system that no-one can argue with. We are created to be co-heirs with Jesus Christ the Son of God, worth pondering!

  • North Korea is not truly a socialist state. In theory, regular people should own the means of production and not be ruled by one corrupt family. The US is closer to a socialist state, since it's a democratic state that practices forms of socialism.
