  • Yeah that golf and turf equipment is specific, jacobsen sucks to get parts for. If you're in Ontario then there should be a jacobsen dealer in the province to order parts. Here in Oregon we go through RMT equipment for jacobsen.

  • I don't know if this is important to you but I swapped a Kubota from a wrecked Ransomme to a 743 Bobcat, this was at least 10 yrs ago. I think the manifold was swapped too. The only issue I had was I had to switch the flywheels if my memory serves me correct that was it. Kubota still in working fine. Please note Bobcat parts a'int cheap either, but they are available.

  • Industrial application companies can sometimes help with difficult parts. If your engine is a Kubota and it's not in a Kubota machine, for Ontario you can try MK Power, who are based out of Mississauga. They can be testy though. Through the grapevine, I've heard MKP gets a lot of callers who go "uh it's a kubota, like, diesel? and I need the like, you know, the bolt that holds on the thing?" So be sure to have all your engine details at the ready.

  • Same thing with John Deere's, all parts are proprietary, so even if it says Kawasaki or any brand of diesel engine you have to go to them, but if ur a savvy a-hole like me and u find out that all manufacturers make a second exact engine without proprietary rules. U need to find the #'s for the second engine and start ordering like a mad man. True story I swear.

  • You can buy exhaust gasket material in sheets and make your own. On Jonathon W channel he was swapping a cummins in place of a yanmar in a komatsu mini excavator and the yanmar you could only parts for it at komatsu because it was specifically built that one model komatsu machine.

  • They make exhaust "gasket making material" in sheets that you can get from most parts stores, but it is usually special order in the smaller stores. It has a tan colored high temperature gasket material on either face, but a metal inner core. You have to use tin snips to cut it. I've used it on cars with turbos before, it doesn't blow out like some might assume. It works well for unique applications where you would have trouble finding gaskets.

  • I suspect the reason for not being able to get the gasket in Canada for a standard 03 series turbo engine was a Kubota engine dealer was not contacted. en.locator.engine.kubota.co.jp/map#NorthAmerica. Good luck with future Kubota repairs. All the best Dan

  • I work at a community college doing grounds maintenance work and we have just about the same mower, a Jacobson 5111 4wd and we have over 5500 hrs on it and no engine problems once so ever with it, just the hydraulic system is weak on the mower. We also use R&R to get parts for our mower, and we all use Burris Equipment to get our kubota and Jacobson parts.

  • I worked as a technician in a Kubota dealership in Northern Europe, before I left home and went to Australia. Had the exact same issue, when a customer came in with just an engine model number or a serial number off of an engine that was on some other machine. The culprit is, that the engine part of Kubota is separate, as in when they sell these engines on some other machinery makers, the other dealers themselves can only access the spares. Had a guy come in with a wood chopper, that had the same engine in it. A V1505T. Wanted mainetnance on it, couldnt find parts, so I just grabbed filters off my shelf and started looking which one fits. Later on I discovered, that on Messicks website, you can find some parts aswell, if you have a part number. It helped me out a little. I have also had problems when some customers bring their own machinery from overseas, and then cant find the parts in Europe, because its a different region. And we as a dealership are not allowed to access those parts catalogues. I even went as far as writing US dealerships to get parts numbers. But it worked out somehow. Then we had other machinery with Kubota engines, New holland, Merlo telehandlers, some weird skid steers and air compressors aswell. If you were to run diagnostics on them, your computer wouldnt allow you in, if its another manufacturers machine. But when I went for a few training courses over to UK, we were able to tune the software a bit, so we could access other machinerys ECUs aswell. Mainly for DPF and SCR systems. Hope this sheds a bit of light. Thanks Rich, always fun to watch your videos!

  • Parts like that can be a Kubota thing, people run into the same issue with grey market tractors, may have the same engine but have one of many possible headgasket etc, they like to sell parts to the dealers in the market they were originally destined for. If you say Jacobsen it's no way. Kubota is really funny about separation between at and construction. I can't buy a tracked skid steer at my local ag dealer. Or parts for my old KH170l excavator.

  • 2,000 hours is only 1.5 to 2 years of use for a golf course trim mower like this. It should go 15k hours These are used for cutting the rough around areas where vig mowers cant get. Some courses might mow all their rough with a few units like this of its a higher end course that can afford the extra labor. Ive worked both. I run equipment amd do maintenance, nodiesel work for me.

I know these and their predecessor’s well, ransome/jacobsen are the only manu’r to put the turbo there. The cause is the engine moves more than the exh mount does on the chassis, they find a weak point some where, most of the 1’s iv done worked on rougher ground than ur lawn n normally broke a turbo flange weld or split the pipe lengthways. From my experience, both machines and service from jac’ are poor, toro gm4??0 far better tool.

They are imported from Japan and never sold new in EU countries, and the EU website for looking up parts and diagrams only shows models from EU. Even if you have the correct order number for a part, the dealer website does not allow you to order it.
