We finally kicked off our harvest for 2020! The weather is awesome and we have a few acres ready to go. Dad also tweaked his new knee getting out of a tractor. Son of a gun.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

  • First quarter of your post when you opened the bin door and I saw had mass of moldy corn.... I have an answer for that malfunction. When you finish filling all the bins this fall...take each bin and reverse the crown in the top of the bin. The heat and moisture will condense in the crown and mold and bugs love it. So, no crown...now reversed...no isolated moisture and heat and minimal bug problems and mold problems. Guaranteed!!

  • When I was in school in Pennsylvania in the 1970's, one of the farmers crawled into his cotton picker and tried to kick the corn out of the bottom of the bin that had gotten stuck in his corn picker and jammed it. The corn picker started again and ground off his legs, while he held himself up for a long time, trying not to fall into the spinning spikes. He lived, but that's farming accidents. The next day in the newspaper, there was a picture of his field covered with all the Amish people in the area who had gone to his farm and were finishing his harvest for him, by hand. It was extremely tragic and then so heartwarming that all those people, without being asked, just showed up for him.

  • It’s been fun watching your videos bringing me up to date on the farming world I’ve been away from since my college years. I’m retired from the airline industry with 32 years flying over vast amounts of Americas farmlands in my many many thousands of hours airborne with the front office view. Perhaps you’ve seen a contrail from one of the Boeing’s I flew over the years. I always missed my time with my dad and the family farms of the 60’s and early 70’s doing the farm work for dad. I always held an interest in Ag and never forgot the smell of afresh plowed Iowa farm ground in the early spring! Thanks for all you do and keep it between the rows!

Your channel is very informative and peaceful and easy watching compared to all the other crap that floods my feeds and flies across my TV screen constantly. Watching you sort of inspires me to be productive in my own way. -- but then there are some days when I’m just the old guy sitting on the bench, watchching andcritiquing other peoples work- which is sort of fun itself
