Responding Code or Blues and Twos to a vehicle crash that had the interstate shut down. We were requested to drive South in the North bound lanes of the interstate by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The impact knocked the engine and transmission out of the vehicle, but the driver was walking around at the scene!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!! • Are you guys allowed to drive through an intersection when not a prioritized vehicle? Here in Belgium even police, ambulance and firetrucks need to stop and making sure everyone knows they are going through even when having the sirens going. Tow trucks are no prioritized vehicle as of I know ...

  • Well I haven't read the previous 1.7K comments so forgive me for asking what may have already been answered, but shouldn't whatever agency called this in explained the fact the engine was in the middle of the road too? Or texting a photo of the wreck would at least let Recovery know what equipment to send??

  • In Washington state, the state police would have kept the interstate closed until everything was cleaned up and investigated. Missouri, get them moving. Now I know why drivers from the midwest are impatient up here in Washington when it comes to accidents.

  • Modern cars are a pain to fix at times. When you have a minor fender bender that costs 2500+ to fix. But then you have a crash like this where the car is destroyed but the driver can walk away from it. I think it is as worthy compromise. The cars of old would have likely killed the driver or left him with a crippling injury. Every accident is different with different results. But still I have know several people in bad crashes and they have all pretty much walked away when driving a modernish car. As Jey Leno says don't buy your kids a classic car, they are not safe enough get you kid a car from 2005 on up.

    P. O.P. O.2 kun oldin
  • Unbelievable people can walk away from this type of impact 😮

In law worked in recovery out here in AZ years ago said he saw a fatality where drunk driver was driving down the wrong way on the highway hit head on by 18 wheel truck. The only thing left was torso with legs there was a beer can between his legs still had half a beer left.

  • I walked away from a rather nasty wreck myself the Monday before Christmas I was driving a quad axle dump truck loaded at 73k lbs.( legal max) full of beach ball size rock traveling at 40mph in a 55 zone (due to weather and the fact I had just climbed a steep hill) it had been misting all day and the temps were hanging around 33-34 degrees entered a left hand curve in the road and suddenly the steer tires started pushing... black ice had formed on the road... well the pusher axles did exactly as the name implies and pushed the truck straight towards the shoulder but it was already too late the steer tires tried to grab the gravel of the shoulder but the snow slush and ice had other plans... the truck caught a driveway culvert in the middle of the turn with the RF tire launching the RF of the truck into the air causing the LF to catch causing the truck to roll to the right into the ditch and slamming the nose of the truck into the embankment on the other side of the ditch... the force was so great that it ripped all but one cab mount from the frame spilled the entire contents of the dump box all over the ditch crushes the full cab into a 2/3 cab broke the driver seat slider locks (both rails). And almost everything from the cab was lost into the ditch. thru the passenger window. there was about a 75-100 foot debris field from the rollover and the truck was a late 90's Volvo... honestly the only reason I survived and walked away is the fact I was wearing my seatbelt (I would've been sucked out the passenger side of the truck by the ground traveling past)... It was later realized I had a non impact induced concussion (from the sheer force of the impact) as well as the normal contusions. Now that was a dumptruck-splosion.

  • couldnt he just put the engine in the front????

    brian taylorbrian taylor3 kun oldin
    • Yes, I could have and that would have, under normal circumstances, been my approach. However, all the Emergency Service vehicles and a large amount of the crash scene that wasn't visible in this video were all in the passing lane, same as the engine. the Trooper suggested, removing the car from the driving lane was the fastest way to open up a lane of traffic. This method worked. Thanks for watching and God bless.

  • Hi again, I am writing this because I was curious if I could send one of my own sirens to you as well, but this one going for the peterbuilt rollback with no current siren? I know it may still seem unecessary but I do know you are hunting for one for said truck. The siren in question is a lovely Federal Signal 80k with the low profile control head. Also some good news is the other siren being sent by my friend for the `tator has been packed and shall arrive soon!
