  • Just spent total of 22 minutes to get to a rep from calling and then being on hold. This was after calling back to back about 5 or 6 times. As soon as I told him the problem he fixed it. Keep trying. When you first call press 1, then wait till the next prompt press 2, then press 4 right after. If it says too many calls, hang up and do it again. Good luck.

  • My husband called EDD right now. Was able to speak to someone fairly quickly (20 min wait). He let them know about the re-open claim button. EDD removed it and he was able to certify for the remaining balance. EDD did say it would take a few days for the problem/glitch to be fixed.

  • Hello! I finally got someone from EDD!!! After 4 days of calling- I did not reopen my claim I waited to get someone from EDD to confirm and he actually knew why I was calling and said they have to manually fix this issue!! He fixed it on the phone, he had me go on my EDD online and confirm and I was able to certify!

  • Here's something new, regarding the ID.me I tried to verify my identity using ID.me today, and here's the heads up. After you have uploaded photos of your ID, they surprise you with "Let's take a selfie," (so of course I had to put on makeup). You can only do this with an Android or IPhone, which if you don't have like me), a flip phone will not do. I finally got my daughter to let me sign in on hers, and after a few attempts, we did it. The screen on her Iphone said "You have successfully...." However, the eternal circular arrow is still spinning after 20 minutes, where it says: "THIS SCREEN WILL AUTOMATICALLY REFRESH ONCE YOUR PHOTOS ARE RECEIVED. There is no support link and EDD does not have a drop-down in the "contact us" section of their home page.

    • @Miichyy Hahaha, I am well aware of that! I have tried and tried to get through and get in the queue, and Friday night I was in the queue for 2 hours, and then their day ended and they hung up on me. It is absurd. I have tried calling all this week at all different times of the day, all to no avail. And, if you read the comments, your statement about the system being updated for almost everyone, is simply not true. Not sure where you came up with that. I check my account online several times every day, and nothing has changed except that I will still be able to draw until April 10th. But it still says I need to reopen my claim, which I cannot do online, since I am self-employed and the questions do not apply to me. They have said it is a glitch, and they are working on fixing that, but so far, many people, like myself are stuck in limbo, until they fix the glitch, or we can talk to someone on the phone, which is nearly impossible.

  • I called at 1 today. Was on hold for about 20-25 minutes. When answered I was immediately asked my Social security number. After they ran it they explained they’d ask me a series of questions to verify my identity. Consisted of the following: First and last name DOB Mailing Address Phone Number on file Last place of employment/ or self employed. I was asked if I was calling to ask about “Reopen Claim” button and if I needed to certify. Answered yes. Was put on hold for less than a minute and asked to log in to EDD to verify that I was able to certify now. It allowed me to certify right away. Hope this helps out. No need to reopen claim.

  • I was on PEUC and was last able to certify on 12/26. Then i was unable to certify at all. I still had a balance from PEUC, but my claim said i had no more benefits and couldnt apply again until my claim year was up. Then the "reopen claim" button appeared and i completed and submitted that and my claim then said i should check back on 1/24 to certify, but i still couldnt certify for weeks 12/27-1/9. that was fixed when i called and finally got through. It took 25+ tries over the past 3 days, but i was instantly able to certify and approved for payment for both weeks with the assistance of the customer service rep. Those 2 weeks also had the extra $300/week added to them. Keep at it. There is hope.

BUT ITS 1/13/21 AT 9:35AM AND I DID GET THROUGH TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DID IN FACT MAKE A FIX TO MY ACCOUNT AND ALLOWED ME TO CERTIFY FOR 12-27-20 THRU 1-9-21. YES IT TOOK ME OVER 100 TRIES OF CALLING FROM YESTERDAY TILL THIS MORNING STARTING AT 8:01AM. BUT YES, THERE ARE PEOPLE (OR ATLEAST ONE PERSON) ANSWERING OUR NUMEROUS TRIES. I CALLED THE 800-300-5616 NUMBER THEN DID THE 1-2-2 PROMPTS. HERE IS A TRICK THAT I USED ON MY IPHONE THAT HELPED ME GET MORE CALLS IN. I DIALED THE 800-300-5616 NUMBER THEN LISTENED TO THE RECORDING FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. I THEN WENT TO THE "ADD CALL" BUTTON ON MY IPHONE THEN WENT TO "RECENTS" THEN USED THE SAME 800-300-5616 NUMBER TO START A NEW CALL. BASICALLY DOING 2 CALLS AT ONCE TO THE EDD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER. RIGHT AROUND 1 MIN 45 SECOND YOU WILL BE PROMPTED TO ENTER YOUR FIRST SELECTION. AFTER YOU DO THOSE, SWITCH BACK TO THE OTHER CALL AND WAIT TILL THE 1 MIN 45 SECOND PROMPT THEN DO IT FOR THAT CALL. THE NEXT PROMPT COMES UP AROUND 2 MIN 30 SECONDS. 99 OUT OF 100 TIMES YOU WILL GET THE RECORDING SHORTLY AFTER SAYING THAT "THEY ARE RECEIVING TOO MANY CALLS AND CANT TAKE THIS CALL" MESSAGE. LET THAT PHONE CALL END THEN GO BACK TO THE OTHER CALL TO DO YOUR PROMPTS. KEEP DOING THIS. BUT YES, THEY DID FIX MY ACCOUNT.....LITERALLY TOOK HIM 5 MINUTES. SO AS WITH EVERYTHING ELSE IN LIFE, YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK AND SACRIFICE THE TIME. ONCE AGAIN, OVER 100 TRIES FOR ME BUT I DID GET IN THIS MORNING AND YES THEY DO FIX IT. JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU GUYS HOPE AND TO LET YOU KNOW THAT AS LONG AS YOU GET IN, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIX IT. GOOD LUCK GUYS.   • I called this morning at 8:02am and got thru, waited about 40 minutes but so worth it, I was able to certify in less than 5 min, I've been calling this past two days because I reopened my claim but didn't succeed until now, the best is to call in the morning

  • This button came up on my EDD and so I called them and they said they were too busy and hung up on me. Then I decided to click on it and reopen my claim - when I got to the question: "What specific disaster are you claiming?" and it gave me choices, like fire distasters but NO COVID OPTION. So frustrating. I cancelled it. And I still can't get thru to speak to a human. :(

  • I love how the IRS, EDD and all these other Government entities have "Glitches" in their programs, while those of us stand to lose our homes, starve, etc. have to wait for them to get their sh*t together. WHY would they make us wait 30 days until we get more help?? This is crazy. The stimulus packages go back and forth every day, as well. On again /off again, no EDD, no nothing. All these entities are dangling a carrot in front of us. Total Bullsh*t.

  • While everyone is reporting they had a reopen claim button,mine did too for about a week and disappeared Saturday night. I was able to call after 4pm with a waiting time of 45 minutes. I explained to the rep that I had a reopen claim button but it had disappeared and I was waiting to see if something would update but instead disappeared without letting me certify. She assured me I did the right thing by not reopening a new claim. She instantly was able to update my claim and asked me to log in now and boom my two week of certification were there. And got paid this morning. Thank you for all you helpful videos I thought to share my experience

  • Hi Ginny, love your channel. I have a strange question for a possible "work around". I qualified for PUA assistance and my claim was continuing without any problems until I had a phone interview with EDD. Gave her all of my income information just like on my application, including that I receive SSDI (PUA does not include any SS or SSDI income). She based her decision to disqualify me on regular UI rules instead of PUA rules, now I'm in the big black hole of Appeals. My on line account still shows "disqualified" instead of "appeals" despite them having received my appeals packet via certified mail. It's been months now and I haven't received ANY acknowledgment from Appeals or EDD. My "work around" question is, what's your opinion about applying for PUA again, requesting a back date to the date of disqualification and going thru the process again? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • My friend was able to bypass the ID verification. The way he did it was he clicked on the reopen claim button before he received the verification email and he made sure that he took a snapshot of the address format in the profile page link so that the address was not updated even a format change is considered an address update and then trigger the ID verification. A different friend started the reopen claim then saves and exited and the next day he got the ID verification link.

  • Another thing I noticed when my friend clicked the reopen your claim was he never received anything to verify his identity while on mine I received the same button at the same time I never clicked on the button but I did receive a notice to verify I’d with ID.ME. Before all this we both had a button where that “reopen your claim” button is but is was to verify our identity and to upload files to verify my identity. That was replaced with the reopen claim button on the 1st of the year he clicked on the reopen claim button and never received anything to verify identity and since I didn’t today I received an email asking me to verify my identity. I verified my identity and now both of us have a message saying to certify on the 17th.

  • I reopened my claim on Sunday. I checked this morning (Tuesday) and there was no weeks to Certify. I just checked again tonight, and there were weeks to certify (12/27-1/9). Hopefully it works out!!!🤞

  • I heard from someone who called in and they said DO NOT CLICK THE REOPEN BUTTON, you do not have to reopen your claim, EDD will send you instructions to recertify when the system is updated with the new payments from the Department of Labor which should be done sometime by January 17th. Trump really screwed us over by not signing the new pandemic assistance package when he was supposed to. So now the EDD system is taking longer to update because of that.

I reopen my claim last night and today I got lucky to speak with a EDD representative to fix the glitch apparently she help me but when I open The EDD WEb to certify It appear one week say 01/03/20 to 01/09/20 do you hear someone with same problem? Practically I loosen a one benefit week

  • I spoke with EDD earlier, he made it possible for me to certify and stated that EDD is well aware of this “glitch” and he said hopefully by this Sunday it should be rectified. Fingers crossed!!

If so, how long after. Also, suspended accounts got to certify and then verify Id, did they get paid? Please help I'm in the situation of not able to get through and not suspended. I'm stuck with red button and no changes. I'm broke.

    • Hi! Are you referring to those who are awaiting the 11 week extension to get up and running in their PUA and PEUC claims? Yes some are beginning to see this start, however the EDD has stated they may take up to 1/25 to update all claims. BUT - with the reopen claim button if someone clicks on it, most likely the "next certification date" is populated as 1/24, claimants are reporting that in order to get paid they need to call in and a rep fixes this 1/24 date error for them over the phone and they are able to certify on the spot and get marked as paid.

  • Texas Workforce Commission is the same way, no communication from anyone, thousands of claims on hold with no guidence on what to do next, What they are doing is trying to verify jobs by sending mail out, the problem with that is that thousands of business have closed down and that mail is being returned and its cause thousands of claims to be on hold. Lawmakers and Congress need to step in to audit how the unemployment agency's are handleing claims.

  • Around 12:51 today I called EDD and waited on hold for a lil less than an hour. It was 42 mins to be exact..I called the 833-978-2511 number and the prompts were 1,2,2 and I got it fixed within a minute as I was logged in and was able to certify before I hung with the representative..also when I got the reopen claim button a few days ago I did click on it and submitted my claim again in case ur wondering

  • Tried for couple days and it worked with my last method! I dialed in 18003005616. Listen for the long infomercial then 1, 2, 4...got through in 30 mins. I have tried 1,2,1 and 1,2,2 doesnt work fast. I just called today around 3:40pm. The rep was fast and fix issue so I can certify. Hope this helps!

  • HI I got my ID Verified by the trusted referree person from the ID.ME should I go ahead and certify for the past two weeks? Ik u said it might take 30 days after our ID verification for our pending payments to go thru but was wondering if I should wait or not. I have till 2/3/2021 to certify for the past two weeks and did u mention theres a bug in the system rlly confused

    • Contact your local assemblyman and they will take care of it ASAP. That's what I did, and didn't even have to (continue to) call EDD.

  • My call went through after 22 calls using 833-978-2511 and 124 options. On hold for 45 mins. Edd rep checked my info and said I do not need to do anything. No need to reopen claim. It will be updated soon and I will be able to certify. I’m on peuc with remaining balance. Rep said she cant do anything on her part. I guess she’s not willing to help so I can certify today. I’m back in the waiting game😩

  • I reopened my claim to find out it was a glitch, my date to certify was all the way on the 24th. Spent all day calling EDD from 8am to 3 pm, finally got thru and they fixed it within 2 minutes, already certified and waiting on deposit

I clicked on the button but did not fill out the form. Will it disappear from what you have heard? I have spent hours over the last couple days trying to get through to EDD and can not reach them. What I did is to contact my local assemblyman (which happens to be Ash Kalra) here in San Jose area. I completed the 'contact form' with my message/concerns, and the District Director, Stacy Shih, responded to me in less than an hour (via, email). She then sent me a form that I need to complete, as well as request my contact information, SS#, etc., and she quickly passed this along to the EDD. Less than hour later, I was able to log-in to my EDD account, and certiffy for my benefits. I called EDD (yesterday) over 50X, until I finally made a decision to reach out the my local assemblyman. With that said, that's my recommendation unless you're lucky enough to get through to EDD on the phone.

  • Today I called edd, had to wait 45 minutes before getting helped, but the agent asked me 2 questions, and told me to go back to ui online to certify.. Money on way.. So I waited 45 minutes, was on phone with agent for 2 minutes well worth it.. FYI. All.. Good luck
