Admitting When I'm Wrong.

Thank you for hearing me out. I made a mistake and I apologize. Do not let my lapse in judgement be used to hurt the science behind masks and the other COVID-19 mitigation measures. Here are some links to accurate info from the CDC on the subject. (Update: I've tested negative x3 for COVID-19 since)

  • I am struggling to want to keep engaging with your content again. People certainly make mistakes, including hypocrisy, but this barely seems like an apology given that the first half is just justifications, you've hidden this away on your MUCH smaller channel and you demonstrably did not follow guidelines (nevermind your own advice) for anyone who looks at the photos and can count into double digits. This just seems like a "I'm sorry...errr...(for getting caught)." There are millions of people who in similar moments also think that the rules don't apply to them and that's where you've been the voice that may have swayed some to think twice and do better. But when you've chosen to be in the public space with a position of authority and do the opposite of what you urge others to do, you've destroyed the merit of your words and instead show people that "oh it's actually okay to make this exception for myself".

Well Mike, I’ve followed you since your pro/anti vax middle ground reaction video, but I think I’ve watched my last video on your channel And it really my heart to say goodbye to someone I adored and respected so much, especially if it’s someone so heroic to save a passenger on a Trans-Atlantic flight. Stay happy and healthy. Goodbye.

Though ur forgiven, u probally lost all the trust and respect to some, Hopefully u will recover it soon. I wish u all the best in life👍

    • he is not perfect, no one is. and for the ones that tell him to do better don't even know what he goes through, being a doctor is already a stressful job because people are putting their lives in someone else's hands but to insult someone because they made one mistake is unforgivable. they need to look within themselves and ask if they would also apologize if they were in this situation, and I'm pretty sure some of them would refuse.

Doc made a huge mistake and disappointed his fans, but he is just being polite and trying to apologize. Let's give him another chance. He's a human too, plus he and others have been tested negative for the virus. Maybe his actions might've left a huge impact on the society, but all of us present here have literal common sense right? People knowing the risk factors of this pandemic are using this guy to enjoy themselves! Even if he didn't make those mistakes there were so many people who tried to spread rumors! Now, He's got what he deserved, LETS FORGIVE HIM AND MOVE ON.

He is a doctor. He isn’t some uneducated or in knowledgeable person. If he gives so much news about covid, only for you to think he dropped all those advices just because he went to a party, he might as well be a hypocrite. Doctors, are humans too. And humans, make mistakes. Luckily for him, this isn’t a big problem as nothing bad really happened. Doctor Mike should not be criticised for only one mistake he made, when human beings aren’t always perfect, especially Doctors.

I got sick and was fine yes people have died but the flu has killed more. Covid is more contagious and you should wear a mask but its really not that serious and we shouldn't be shutting anything down. Its proven to be bad for the economy. Your birthday ? U were safe, u acted in accordance with the guidelines . U A doctor , u can't function going from your morbid workplace to home day in day our for months on end without a break. I'm at the point of crazy , I need to be at the beach, I need to see people outside of isolation , even if it's just for one day , few hours . Being a doctor is a morbid experience since March, then isolation and then work, as a Dr, u need a time out from the morbid daily life .. It's not a crime that u had one day of fun as it was ur birthday and u guys were clearly safe . Opening yourself up for criticism is ridiculous, u human and irs not a mistake to have a day of fun , ur profession is a morbid right now , there is just hardships being a doctor right now .. Every doctor and nurse have a right to a day of sunshine and some friends , for the sake of your mental well being as a doctor, it's important u take time out from the morbid pattern that has clouded the lives of health care workers in the last year. To be an effective doctor , your mental health is important.,

  • “I’m sorry, I messed up. I’m human.” Yeah, but as someone who is also in the medical field (not a doctor, however) you were armed with ALL of the facts. You KNEW. You have a deeper understanding of these things than most. And you still chose to go on that boat. This apology doesn’t cut it. The majority of us have been dying for a break from this draining career we took, and hoping our coworkers are being responsible. I don’t want to hear hyoid justify getting on a party boat with a bunch of girls I am going to reduce to Instagram “models”. How disappointing. Another doctor who isn’t actually so grounded in reality.

Maybe he didn't want the effort to go to waste. I will admit he should've put this on his main channel. At the same time people probably wouldn't accept it anyways since it's an apology on UZworld, and we know how well those go. That's just me giving him the benefit of the doubt, but if you disagree I would like to hear why. It doesn't hurt to hear that you're wrong if you need to correct yourself. • This is a bullshit apology!! Why isn't this on your main channel? Are you taking accountability or are you pacifying those who are annoyed with you for being a hypocrite? I don't buy for one second that you were "surprised" by your friend. It takes planning to pull this sort of thing off, and if you were surprised when exactly did you have time to reflect and do your research on the CDC website about the restrictions on a boat? Do your friends not know what you do or what kind of content you create? Something doesn't add up. My birthday was yesterday and my friends surprised me with a delivered cake that was left at my door. Why? Because my friends know that I'm a proud nurse and I take social distancing seriously!!! I used to enjoy watching you but today, I'm going to unsubscribe to all your channels. I agree with your messages but your hypocrisies are hurting it for the entire medical community. Make genuine and honest apologies and do better in your personal life. K. Thanks. Bye.

This apology was more on the real side compared to other apologies i've seen. And if he didn't make an apology video he would have gotten attacked for that as well -You'll need to let it go and stop acting like you and people you know haven't done things like this And if you were a true fan of his you would have realized all of these things and had not been so quick to judge and complain. You didn't need to support his decisions or back them up but you shouldn't have be like "Omg I cOuLdNt BrInG mYseLf To WaTcH hiS vIdeOs AnyMoRe".

    • -covid was not dying down at the time especially in Miami where he was -he did not follow the rules and guidelines. There were more than 10 people on the boat and the guidelines said to wear a mask if you were in the water. They didn’t wear masks when they weren’t in the water. -he did not only put himself at risk. For all he know he could have been asymptomatic and gave it to someone else. Plus he’s a doctor, he’s held to a higher standard and should have known better. Those other people on the boat are at fault to. -just because “more than half the population” does it doesn’t mean it’s not wrong. I never broke guidelines, I haven’t gotten to see my friends in nearly a year. I celebrated my 21st birthday with the people in my household and that was it. I only go out to the supermarket for my family and to doctor’s appointment. It’s not just him being a celebrity, but it’s that he’s a doctor. He knows better. Yet somehow I can follow the guidelines better than a doctor? Stop giving him excuses because you’re a fan of him. - this apology definitely wasn’t not honest. He lied about following the guidelines. He disabled the dislike to like ratio. He didn’t put it on his main channel. He made it seem like it was just a surprise gift that he couldn’t say no to. He had to nerve to talk about risk benefit for him. He’s no different from the people he think it’s ok to have a large wedding with no masks right now. He’s no different then the people who say they are young and healthy and therefore don’t need to wear masks because of it. He’s not sorry for what he did, he’s sorry he got caught. -sorry, but I’m pretty sure this “apology” wasn’t just for you. Others are allowed to not accept it. I’m sorry you don’t like the fact that some people don’t like him anymore because of it, but you don’t get to dictate what people forgive and don’t forgive. You wanna forgive him? Whatever, that’s up to you, but it’s not up to you to tell others how to feel. Again, no I haven’t done anything like this because it’s reckless and idiotic. -people are allowed to say they can’t bring themselves to watch his content anymore. He betrayed his audience trust. I was a huge fan of him and now I’m not. He didn’t take responsibility and I don’t want to watch someone like that. He’s lucky there wasn’t a bigger blowout with this and that’s likely because he didn’t post it on his main channel. -“True fan?” You mean someone who blindly follows someone, doesn’t hold them accountable for their actions, and doesn’t accept the fact that there will be people that can’t forgive him? If that’s what you mean by “true fan”, then I guess that’s exactly what you are. -people are dying everyday from this. My father lost friends and coworkers. They couldn’t have funerals for them and yet a doctor is out partying in Miami during a time where the virus was getting worse there. My mom was hospitalized and I was nearly hospitalized. At one point my mom kept passing out and vomited on herself and I had to sit with her all night to make sure she didn’t stop breathing or choke on her own vomit. I was so sick that I had to drop one of my college classes. It was so difficult to breath that I thought I was going to stop breathing if I fell asleep. My cough was so bad that I started coughing up bits of blood. That was in April. I’m still feeling the long term effects of the virus. Not everyone has my experience. My dad was asymptomatic, but again the point of the restrictions is to not just protect yourself, but the more vulnerable too. Maybe look at others perspective instead of telling people how they are supposed to feel. People should be held accountable for their action. It’s no wonder why so many celebrities get away with bad things. People are correct in saying that everyone makes mistakes or does something in poor judgement. Part of being an adult, however, is accepting the criticism and consequences that come with those mistakes. Dr. Mikes hasn’t based on his reaction. Clearly Dr. Mike and some of his fanbase has some growing up to do. Also the people sending him threats are wrong too and need to grow up also.

    • Nope, I never broke guidelines. I've always been paranoid about getting the virus. I could have went back to school with all my friends but I don't want to get it and spread it to my family. So I am doing online classes. Whenever my mom gets home, I automatically give her hand sanitizer at the door and other sanitary items. I socially distance myself all the time. I am not hating on him, but I just don't mess with him anymore. He use to be an inspiration because I want to be a doctor or physician assistant. But now I'm like "meh". I get that we are human, but that was a conscious decision and he has patients to take care of. Never know. He could be asymptomatic. 🤷🏾‍♂️

  • I am extremely disappointed in you, Mike. A lot of these people in the comments are, too. I trusted you as a doctor and respected you very much, but that is all gone now. That leaked picture is absolutely disgusting. To see those women hanging on you made me sick to my stomach. The fact that BOTH of my grandfathers passed away a week a part this month FROM COVID and we can’t have a service for either of them breaks my heart. The grandfather that I was the closest with had a lifelong dream to donate his body to science ( YOUR CAREER PATH) but after he passed, we found out he couldn’t because he was positive for Covid. The saddest part is, I don’t think you care. I doubt you will ever read this comment or if you do, you will not care. You fail to see that you’ve hurt thousands of people. You’re supposed to be protecting us and saving lives. I’m not saying that doctors aren’t humans and can’t make honest mistakes- I’m saying that you knew when you made the mistake that it was wrong, but chose to do it anyways. This makes me feel incredibly betrayed and is the reason I will no longer be supporting you or your channel.

  • So here's an an unpopular but logical point of view from someone who isn't emotionally invested in this and can look at the situation objectively, A lot of people are saying "you're only sorry you got caught" but the issue with that statement is that you can't know. It's possible he's being sincere and it's also possible he's not. What I'm saying is the moment something becomes public everyone is going to assume the apology is fake, regardless of the person. I believe that he deserves the bare minimum that his fans give him the benefit of the doubt regarding whether he's truely sorry or not (at least for all the good he HAS done over the years up until this mistake) BUT after that, each one should decide for themselves whether they actually accept the apology or not. To go out of your way to insult, shame, slander on social media or wish unfortunate things upon this man or his family is overkill.

  • You really don’t need to hate. I understand that he made a mistake. And y’all are hating for him for it. I just wanna know what your still hating on. He understands that he made a mistake. He learned a lesson and hes making the best of it. Please stop acting like you never made mistakes. We’re all human and we make mistakes. Sometimes we skip a step and that causes something bad. And everyone has skipped that step. So please stop acting like you haven’t made a mistake and be respectful.

  • It's in the past, you've apologized whether that's in main, second or third whatever. I hope you had a lot of fun on your party with your friends! :) seeing everyone's comments are horrible. personally, i'm happy to see medical professionals giving themselves a break and have fun despite the health messages they are MEANT to share. you all have done so much. i hope these people will be kinder to you for this one mistake.

  • This was not cool Mike. I get that pandemic hurts us all mentally but is a party really necessary? Come on, you are better than that. I'm not gonna cancel him, I think that's too much. People can make mistakes (or knowingly bad choices like in this one) But I hope he won't be doing it again since it goes against everything he stands for.

  • Do what I say not what I so disappointed because I honestly thought you were better than this. You more than anyone, as a doctor, have seen what COVID does. Having said that you , like every other human, make mistakes. The maskless event was a big one and not putting this apology on your main channel makes me question the sincerity.
